Did you manage it?! Me neither!
Why is it that when we're growing up, there are more things we are told not to do than things we are told we should do?
Unfortunately, 'D' is for Keep Calm and DON'T look at the chicken!
What "don'ts" were drilled into you when you were young?
My parents drilled the beware of strangers thing into us all the time. We had to walk some lonely country roads to school and back. I did look at the chicken.
ReplyDeleteDon't cross your eyes, they'll stay that way.
ReplyDeleteLOL funny idea!
ReplyDeleteHey...I'm also fan of Federer!

So true. It's very difficult for us to look at something if we've been told not to!
ReplyDeleteHa ha! I looked! One of my favourite lines when teaching creative writing is, to illustrate the power of words, I'd tell the class to not think about a pink elephant. It works every time!

"Don't spill the red Kool-Aid" Which I promptly spilled all over my cousin's pink bed spread.
ReplyDeleteIt's like a command. I should have told myself "don't lose ten pounds!"
I looked at the chicken. Ilike the idea of Don't lose 10 lbs.
ReplyDeleteJO ON FOOD, MY TRAVELS AND A SCENT OF CHOCOLATE
Don't accept a ride from a stranger is the first one that sprang to mind. I never did because I am a born rule follower. Sometimes that's a good thing I guess : )
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog...good luck with the A-Z!
I'm forgetting what my parents told me not to do; but I know what I'm telling my son, don't swear, don't stay up late, don't eat all the cookies .... but I think on the contrary I also say a lot more of do actually, the favs are of course, do your school work & finish your assignment ;)
ReplyDeleteHa! I looked!
ReplyDeleteDon't stand in front of the refrigerator with the door open. ;)
Before visiting my Grandma my Mum would always say, "Don't ask for anything." Luckily my Grandma always gave us the best biscuits in town and we never had to ask for them.
ReplyDeleteThe School of What Not To Do perhaps...
ReplyDeleteIt's the taboo thing, we always want what we can't have! Funnily, I can't remember too many don'ts from childhood, though one clear one is: don't swim too far out, there are sharks and jellyfish!
ReplyDeleteYes, you're right, you have to prioritize positive information.
ReplyDeleteHello! I can't remember what don'ts I heard all the time. Probably a lot because I had three older siblings, but I'm sure I ignored those don'ts from them, LoL! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy A to Z-ing! from Laura Marcella @ Wavy Lines
Nice blog, thanks, happy A to Z.
ReplyDeleteI looked at the chicken,
Okay, I really like this one!

My parents always told me "DON'T neglect your studies!"
