The Kuching market was hot and smelly, but at the same time colourful and intriguing. My dad-in-law took me and my friend Kong for a walk around the market one hot morning . . .
We passed the wet market first and it was way too smelly for Lauren!
By this time I was carrying Lauren around as it was too smelly and she had "no energy" as she lamented!
"Ikan bilis" - tiny fish which you fry until they are crispy and delicious!
A selection of newspapers at Kuching market
These strange things are coconut stalks; quite tasteless to me
A fine selection of chilis
Handing over the change . . .
A red juicy fruit named "jambu air"
More bags of my favourite "ikan bilis" or, anchovies
Too bad my dad couldn't stay longer to look for my sago worms... hmm.. maybe Lauren should have stayed with me at home... LOL
ReplyDeleteVery nice all. Fabulous series, I like the street markets and this has much charm.
ReplyDeleteWhenever I travel, I love to visit the local markets! Your presentation is very nice. Wouldn't be nice if you will present us the exotic fruits we do not know in Europe?
ReplyDeleteFie, Lauren should have stayed at home, that's what I advised all along! It was just too much for her..
ReplyDeleteLeovi, thanks, and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Traveling Hawk, yes I would love to present more to you all. On that occasion I was carrying Lauren in one arm, camera in the other hand, and it was terribly hot and sweaty, so we were rushing to get out of there!
I had problem loading the pictures the other day, so I gave up. Beautiful series of pictures of the market. Very colourful and a good depiction of the market.
ReplyDeleteordinary malaysian, thanks a lot, it was fun photographing such an interesting scene!
