I'm really enjoying getting to know my Canon EOS 650D.
The other night I went out to take my first night shots with my new camera. I also decided to capture images using an 8-second shutter speed.
Jalan Dato Lim Hoe Lek, Kuantan |
With the 8-second shutter speed I was able to capture the lights of moving cars as red and white streaks across the image. I will definitely find a busier road next time!

The following image was taken without the manual adjustment of shutter speed . . .

In-built photo editing on the Canon EOS 650D allows you to select an area to be focused on, while blurring out the rest |
ahhh.. a new camera. hehe
ReplyDeleteHi Jard, yes, a new camera! Really enjoying experimenting with it!
ReplyDeleteYou've done well Duncan .... night shots can be very tricky ...I'm still trying to get one of those night street scenes with the trailing lights.
ReplyDelete«Louis» needs to work on taking night shots. You got some good results with your new camera.
ReplyDelete«Louis» thanks you for your visit to San Francisco Bay Daily Photo.
Gorgeous photos, beautiful night lighting, excellent color.
ReplyDeleteGreetings.
i take mine using Instagram - lol.
ReplyDeletenot too bad.
enjoy your experiments!
New cameras are such fun, I've heard a lot of good things about the Canon, I'm a Pentax girl myself. Impressive first night shots Duncan.
ReplyDeletemy aim next year - DSLR. however, my main concern would be the weight on my neck. sigh....
ReplyDeleteI love the colored lights
ReplyDeleteReal nice shots of the street and the buildings. I always love night scenes. You sure have a lot more leeway to play and experiment with the new Canon, Duncan. Looking forward to seeing more super night shots of Kuantan.
ReplyDeleteI am not good at night shots, my compliments for yours!
ReplyDeleteHi Duncan. I really do need you over here to teach me all about shutter speeds and the like!!!
ReplyDeleteThese are great. Something I have yet to master.
ReplyDeleteHi, Duncan.
ReplyDeleteI think a 30 year old such as you could tell me a lot that I don't know. Age isn't the ultimate requirement for this! You could certainly teach me a lot about photography. When I was a teenager I wanted to do photog, but I didn't have the money.
Your photographs are absolutely stunning. In my endeavor to be positive, I'm going to come into your site often each week. Keep posting these photos, and also ones of your sweet little family. I love the "personal" blogs. And oh how I'd love to visit Malaysia. I lived with my first husband and our children from 1975-76 in Laie, Hawaii (this year didn't get in my memoir). I think I'll post some things about that year. A gorgeous place that I didn't want to leave, but we had to go back to Provo and BYU. My husband was on a teaching exchange between the two campuses for just that one year.
Those are terrific night shots! (Something virtually impossible on my point-and-shoot:) Look forward to future photo-adventures (Re: your question - people tend to either ignore me or just duck out of my picture completely when I'm snapping...many times, I'll wait for them to turn away before I take the shot:)
ReplyDelete"thisisme" please keep encouraging Duncan to come over here :)
ReplyDeleteThank you,
Duncan's Mum
Diane, I'm sorry I was so formal on my previous comment. I wasn't entirely sure if "thisisme" is you but now I know it is you :)
