I love the moon. It looks great in the evening and night sky. I know that I need a professional camera to get the necessary zoom ability to capture great photos of it.
Here are some photos of the moon in Kuantan which I captured with my Sony Cybershot point-and-shoot. I think they look pretty. What do you think?

It is hard to get good moon shots, but I think you did very well! I especially like that last one. I love seeing a full moon on a dark night, wouldn't want to go there though.

ReplyDeleteHi Duncan, I love your moon photos and the fact that you brought it up as a writing topic. We've just completed a moon journal project with Elliot, in which we did an observation each night for 28 days, wrote a little journal entry and made art to go along with the entries. It was a fun activity to do as a family, and we learned a lot. I also developed a deeper appreciation for the moon and the beautiful light that is reflected to us each night.

ReplyDeleteWhat I find interesting is the number of additional arrests the Police make during a full moon.
ReplyDelete"intermittent insanity once believed to be related to phases of the moon." In fact, in England in the 18th century, a person who committed a murder during a full moon could plead "lunacy" and get a lighter sentence.
I'm not sure that one would get away with that excuse nowadays. ;-)
I guess it is the luna in the moon that makes people go crazy about the celestial orb in the sky. That makes people, esp the poets, wax lyrical over it. The moon always reminds me of Chinese poets and Chinese fairies and rabbits. And of course, the mooncake festival and lanterns! Nice pictures those. Really. Would be nicer if you could capture even closer up images. But I guess with a point and shoot cam, that would be asking a lot. I myself have failed miserably to catch a respectable image of the moon with my even less canggih point and shoot.
ReplyDeleteI love watching the moon too, Duncan, and have wonderful memories of getting up in the middle of the night with my sisters and my dad to watch an eclipse (lots of them), the stars, meteor showers, etc. I even saw sputnik (you are too young to know).
