Petrosains @ KLCC

Petrosains was top of our list of places to go during our KL trip. Last time we were in KL we arrived too late in the afternoon and couldn't get in. So we made sure to arrive earlier this time. 4:30pm is the cut-off time to enter.

All visitors to Petrosains have to queue at one entrance - the Dark Ride. We waited for between 20-30 minutes and while no backpacks and food and drink are allowed, the staff bent the rule for us as we had young children.

The Dark Ride is a short, 5-minute ride where you sit in a slowly moving carriage and are presented with visual and audio effects explaining more about the earth and industry. At the end of the ride, you alight and the tour of Petrosains begins. Unfortunately no photography is permitted on the Dark Ride.

Dinosaur ROAR! Leah was scared

Lauren and Leah kept us entertained during a brief pause for rest

Petrosains is a great educational and fun place for the whole family. We were enjoying it very much when the staff asked us to hurry up and see more things as the time for closing was approaching! We had not even got half way through the place!

Lauren posing with some huge building blocks!

The following projected images were great fun. You stand in front of the white screen so you can see your shadow. Then the objects on the screen obey your every action. For the first two photos, the coloured bits and pieces accumulate as you hold your arms open. The butterflies land on your arms and head as you keep still. And you can move and chop the coloured sausage shapes at your pleasure.

Had fun coming down that rope slide right there at Petrosains

There was a lot more we didn't have time for, as I mentioned earlier. It's well worth the visit!

Petrosains PlaySmart @ Yayasan Pahang, Kuantan

There is a great exhibition going on at Yayasan Pahang, Tanjong Lumpur, Kuantan, named "Petrosains PlaySmart". It's a science exhibition where children can learn about the rules of science in an exciting and fun way, through various games and exercises.

This exhibit is on until 2015, so there's plenty of time to visit and make return trips! Here's the address:

Petrosains PlaySmart Kuantan
Kompleks Yayasan Pahang,
Tanjung Lumpur,
26060 Kuantan,
Pahang Darul Makmur

We decided to check it out this morning, and we were pleased to see that we were the ONLY ones there! We had the entire room to ourselves. One of the staff came and showed Lauren around all the games.

Apparently it is MUCH busier at the weekends, so if you want to avoid the crush, come on a weekday.

There are plenty of activities for everyone.

Check out this hovering ball!

Lauren tried the standing long jump . . .

Leah tried the sprint. She clocked 2km/h haha!

Fidelia and Lauren tried their feet at tightrope walking.

And what did I enjoy the most? Anything that involves a football!

Football throwing speed. I got 56km/h...

Football target practice . . .

Fidelia gave it a try too . . .

Thinks she's Ryan Giggs with that trusty left foot!!!

Not bad technique . . .

No food and drinks are allowed inside, so I'd advise you to bring along plenty of liquids to keep in the car for when you're finished. This exhibition is quite a work-out!

I assembled this cube in no time!

Here we are with the "Head on Plate" mirror illusion:

Leah played in the balls for a while . . .

Playing around with another mirror illusion:

These lights appear to go for infinity . . .

We easily spent 2 hours at Petrosains PlaySmart Kuantan. There is just so much stuff to try out! Hopefully we'll be going back for another visit soon!

Kizsports @ Empire Mall, Kuala Lumpur

We took Lauren and Leah to Kizsports, a fun playground for children which is located in Empire Mall, Kuala Lumpur (KL).

We paid just RM27 for our 2 children, including 2 pairs of socks for them. My wife and I, and my sister-in-law Urai, went in for free to accompany the children. Of course, there is no time limit to our stay there!

It was such a fun time! I think Urai and I had even more fun than the children! It was quite a workout in the end with endless running, sliding, climbing and jumping.

A view of the Kizsports play house:

Even Leah is looking directly at the camera!

Aunty Urai looks like a real doll in this picture!

Watch Lauren and Urai come yelling down the slide!

Lauren gets really upset because she didn't win!!!

So we tried again and this time Lauren won!!
