The Manhattan Fish Market, East Coast Mall, Kuantan

The Manhattan Fish Market is one of a number of new restaurants lining the main entrance of East Coast Mall in Kuantan.

I miss fish and chips back home in England. Nothing in Malaysia can come close to matching the fat and juicy chips of an English fish and chips shop. But the fish at The Manhattan Fish Market is the closest I've tasted to really good fish.

Fie and I ordered two sets of fish and chips. One of each of the two different types of fish, and shared a piece each. The fish was crispy on the outside and oh so soft and delicious on the inside, just the way it should be! The sauce covering the fish is to die for. We requested more of it and they readily brought along another small bowl of it.

There are some delicious-looking desserts on offer at The Manhattan Fish Market too, but that will be for another day.

Coliseum Cafe, KL

On our last visit to Kuala Lumpur, our friend took us out to eat dinner at Coliseum Cafe. We had never heard of this place before but soon discovered it to be a very famous spot.

(All photos taken with my ipad)

The front doors have a wild west cowboy feel to them. And what we soon found out about Coliseum Cafe is that it is an extremely old restaurant in KL, having been standing in the same location since 1921, for the past 92 years!

A sample dish of fish and chips. The fish was great!

Fie and Leah pose with the appetiser of bread and butter. There was plenty to go around!

Our friend Mr. Lim, who reserved the table and paid for the meal for us

Lauren was apparently overjoyed with her meal! In the background a chef prepares a sizzling steak right in front of the customer. It gets a little smoky at times!

Some of the staff have been working at Coliseum Cafe for decades and there is a nice historical charm about the place. The Western food on the menu is also great and deserves your visit!

Secret Recipe, Indera Mahkota, Kuantan

Secret Recipe is located at Ground and 1st Floor, No. B6 & B8, Lorong Im 8/33, Taman Mahkota Putra, Bandar Indera Mahkota, 25250 Kuantan

"B" marks the location of Secret Recipe. It is reached by taking Jalan Bukit Ubi from Kuantan's main town area.

Secret Recipe. Cakes. Very tasty cakes. But this was the first time we went to Secret Recipe NOT for the cakes (though we did take away a chocolate brownie for dessert!). This time we went for the food for lunch.

Yes, Secret Recipe is also a restaurant which serves very nice food, and we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch there yesterday.

The restaurant interior looks clean and attractive. And the bonus for us is that it was virtually empty as it's now Ramadan, the Muslim fasting month, so at least we get to enjoy quick service and quiet restaurants.

We all ordered milkshakes! Chocolate, strawberry and vanilla :) Our favourite drinks . . .

We were not disappointed when the food arrived. Here's what we ordered:

I ordered Secret Recipe's Lasagne. Very tasty and I cleaned up the whole plate with the bun

Fidelia enjoyed Secret Recipe's Grilled Mushroom Chicken

Lauren ordered her favourite Fish 'n' Chips at Secret Recipe

We ordered Leah Secret Recipe's Spaghetti

The food went down very well and was satisfying. And of course, you can't go to Secret Recipe without having cake, so we chose a piece of Chocolate Brownies to take away.
