While we were having breakfast at Vistana Hotel the other morning, I glanced out the window and saw a couple of hornbill's hopping across the wall. I slowly crept close enough to capture a couple of photos. They didn't seem to mind my presence.
This is the second time we've spotted this marvellous bird in Kuantan. Hornbills typically live in the trees and eat fruit as their main diet. On this occasion they were happily trying to catch smaller birds who seemed to enjoy flying dangerously close to these bigger hornbills!
Nice to see these hornbill birds, good shots Duncan.

ReplyDeleteYes Randy. It was fortunate those hornbills decided to turn up on the one morning I was there. Must take advantage of opportunity!
Deleteoh wow, those hornbills look awesome!
ReplyDeleteThey do don't they Lynda? Amazing birds!
DeleteThank you for sharing - amazing looking, don't like the sound of them eating other birds though...
ReplyDeleteHey Maria, they were just trying to catch other little birds - maybe just playfully. I've never heard of hornbills as predators on other birds.
DeleteHornbills are such lovely creatures!
ReplyDeleteYes they are!
DeleteThat is really cool, but they seem a little dangerous !
ReplyDeleteHi Wong, I don't believe hornbills are dangerous towards other animals. I guess they may have just been chasing away the smaller birds.
DeleteFascinating!
ReplyDeleteThanks Doug!
