Bulan restaurant, Star City, Kuantan

Located on a corner lot off Jalan Beserah in Star City, Bulan restaurant operates from evening until night, specialising in a wide range of western food.

This was our first time trying out Bulan restaurant, and we were not disappointed. Apart from a quite severe toothache I encountered while chewing some food, everything was great.

Guests immediately come face-to-face with this charming little signboard with a message to make you smile. We went ahead and used the data connection on our phones anyway!

The menu had some very entertaining pages with fun names of certain dishes, like 'Single but Available' and 'English Man Sausage.'

My choice

Bulan restaurant is clean and attractive and the food is of a good quality. The prices are quite reasonable for western food.

Mr. Burger, Star City, Kuantan

Located on a large corner lot just off Jalan Beserah is Mr. Burger, a restaurant dedicated to, you guessed it, burgers! Just the word 'burger' immediately grabs the attention of the western world. While Malaysia does not offer the kind of gigantic dripping burgers which America is famous for, it does provide some delicious and smaller alternatives.

The address is:
No.1 A-1, Tingkat Bawah,
Lorong Seri Kuantan 80,
Kuantan Star City
25200 Kuantan

It's a well-maintained restaurant but there seemed to be a shortage of staff on our visit. However, the quality of the food appeared to make up for it.

Mr. Burger Menu

Everywhere we go, we order hot chocolate and compare between different restaurants. Mr. Burger hot chocolate was very chocolatey!

The burgers are a bit similar to the Ramly burger, which are famously sold at roadside stalls around Malaysia

Mr. Burger's burgers were very nice and was a decent meal

Coffee Gallery, Star City, Kuantan

Coffee Gallery is located in the Star City area of Kuantan, adjacent to Jalan Air Putih, just off Jalan Beserah.

Coffee is not the only thing on the menu here, as a wide range of food and drinks are available for your delight.

And now onto the food. Let's take a look at the menu:

First arrived our hot chocolates, beautifully presented in various patterns created in the froth.

Chicken nuggets and french fries for the children, once again presented very nicely in these fetching metal buckets:

Egg on Toast

A very delicious nasi lemak

And of course, a restaurant review wouldn't be complete without the most important room of the cafe:

The toilet is clean and has a choice of water or paper for cleaning up, with a small rubbish bin in one corner and a sink in the opposite corner. It also has some interesting posters hanging on the wall:

Zorbas Cafe (formerly Americano Cafe), Star City, Kuantan

(SINCE THE TIME OF WRITING, AMERICANO CAFE HAS CHANGED NAME TO ZORBAS CAFE)

We were informed of Americano Cafe by our friend Sharon, wife of the owner. Americano Cafe is a fairly new restaurant in Kuantan, in the popular Star City area adjacent to Air Putih.

Address:
B22, Ground Floor,
Jalan Seri Kuantan 81,
Kuantan Star City II
25300 Kuantan, Pahang D.M.

Tel: 09-505 5038
H/P: 019-332 1959

Nikolas, the owner and Head Chef, hails from Greece and has spent many years in America. Hence his food has a Mediterranean and Western flavour, and is cooked to absolute perfection. You can taste the quality.

Americano Cafe is a small and cosy restaurant, suitable for families, with plenty of exciting dishes on the menu. Here's what the menu looks like:

Those who know me fairly well will know that I also take into account the state of the toilet when judging a restaurant. This one is nice and clean, has a choice of hose or toilet paper with two small paintings hanging on the walls. It gets a "PASS" :)

Pizza Hawaiian

Our dessert plate included from top clockwise: Belgium Chocolate Mousse, American Dream Cake and Turkish Baklava

Every single bite of every dish we sampled was delicious and prepared to perfection.

The pizza was easily better than Dominos. The salad was fresh with great dressing. The french fries were not really french fries - they were delicious chips, fat and soft. The lamb was succulent and tender. The chicken tips were awesome, my daughter loved them. All of the food was flavoured beautifully with various spices and sauces.

My daughter said, "Daddy, I'm full, but it's so lovely that I want to keep eating!"

And the dessert was no less impressive. The Belgium Chocolate Mousse was of the highest quality, luxurious, and for RM2.90, you will not find a better bargain anywhere in Kuantan for a dessert! The American Dream Cake was light and fluffy and full of flavour. Finally the Turkish Baklava. I was not very attracted to this dessert by its appearance but once I took a bite I was hooked! The most fantastic sweet flavours filled my mouth - it was just amazing!

Here is Lauren in heaven eating food at Americano Cafe!

Americano Cafe is on a par with La Casa and for me, they are the best two Western restaurants in Kuantan.

You really need to pay a visit to Americano Cafe in Kuantan. I can't talk highly enough of the great dining experience we had there. It is amazing value for money. Good prices, quality food.
