Streetz Cafe, Kuantan

The entrance to Streetz Cafe, Jalan Beserah, Kuantan

Streetz Cafe is located on Jalan Beserah in Kuantan. The cafe has been designed very well and is eye-catching. It presented us with a very good first impression. You soon realise why it is called 'Streetz':

There is a road, or a street, running right through the middle of the cafe. The furniture, decorations and general ambiance are all very cool and give you the feeling you are in a very good restaurant.

Waiting time was adequate and Fidelia really enjoyed her meal:

Lauren had a kids meal and enjoyed that too:

I ordered a typically western spaghetti bolognese and we also had a western pizza.

I was disappointed to find that Streetz Cafe had made the spaghetti with spices. Spaghetti is not supposed to be spicy. So I wasn't able to really enjoy my meal. As for the pizza, it had chilli all over it under the cheese, which made it basically inedible for us. My family quickly concluded that trying to Asian-ise Western food by making it spicy is not the way to do it, and at least to a Western palate like mine, is not appetising at all. Perhaps for local Malaysians, this may not present a problem, but for this English guy, I'm afraid it was off-putting.

And that's a shame because it's a beautiful cafe with a nice atmosphere, but when all is said and done, the ultimate litmus test of a restaurant is the food. And the Western portion of the Streetz Cafe menu was poor.

Ok, the desserts were a little under-whelming but only because all the food we ate was so good. Not a fault to report with our food. Good quality and good service all around. Will definitely eat here again!

Wen Rou's birthday party at Restoran Kamunlau, Tanjung Lumpur, Kuantan

Wen Rou is my English student and attends class together with her brother, Joshua as they prepare for a move to England to further their studies. She has turned 21 and celebrated at Restoran Kamunlau in Tanjung Lumpur, Kuantan.

I took on the role of photographer for the time we were there for my own personal hobby, but also to hopefully pass on some memorable photos for Wen Rou.

Restoran Kamunlau has ample parking space and is located just off the east coastline in the Tanjung Lumpur area of Kuantan

The restaurant gradually filled up with friends and family

Sweet and sour chicken, chicken curry, fried rice and noodles were among the dishes on the menu. Was very satisfied with the food

Wen Rou's dad treated us to some karaoke on stage

This lady played the harmonica and sang a song while my two daughters watched on backstage!

Birthday Party at Rocana Hotel, Kuantan

I'm amazed at how many events we attend, to which we were invited as guests, where I become the main photographer. People have iphones and ipads and take pictures at certain points, but it's quite rare that a photographer with a professional camera snaps shots of all aspects of the event. That's what happened when we attended Thalia's birthday party at Rocana Hotel, Kuantan, recently.

Thalia attends the same primary school as my daughter and the respective parents are friends and gym buddies.

No children's party is complete without candy. And plenty of it.

Children enjoyed a number of party games such as blowing up a balloon as large as possible

Great party even though we left a little early as the girls had to sleep. Thanks to Thalia's family for the invitation. Hope you guys like these photos!
