I have gained a lot of great photos by simply walking out onto my balcony. All manner of bugs, birds and dragonflies have temporarily set base here. One evening in 2013 I noticed another marvellous visitor to our balcony, its colourful and perfectly decorated body sitting still on our lavender plant. These are the grasshopper's hind legs in an upright position, resembling the shape of the Petronas Twin Towers, while a front leg clutches a tiny branch to the right. The soft blue background portrays the first glimpse of dusk.

Bugs love the rain, even if I don't!
In an earlier post, I had guessed that the rainy season in Kuantan had come to an end, but as you can see from the raindrops in this photograph, I spoke too soon!
You will also notice this intriguing bug that came to settle on our orchids yesterday afternoon.
It's cool and wet here in Kuantan, pretty miserable weather. Makes it especially nice when I come across a photo like this!

A Bug's Life
There are plenty of bugs invading our balcony on a pretty consistent basis. Using my coloured paper as apparatus. I captured this dainty specimen on my orchid plant:
This is a bug's life - they fly around, eat, mate, and get photographed by me!
For more pictures of a beautiful dragonfly I captured right after this fly, hop over to my

Nature in Bukit Sekilau
For me, a walk around my little neighbourhood of Bukit Sekilau is a great delight, a stress-reliever and an opportunity to get the camera in action. There is just so much beauty all around, on every street, each front garden, at every turn. Here are some of the images I captured on a recent saunter around the streets of Bukit Sekilau:
I discovered this curious "hairball" growing up a fence across the road. It looks magical!
The hairs stand up on the stems with golden tips
This particular flower always behaves well in front of the camera...
Notice the bug hovering in towards the flower, about to make a landing.
These leaves look so good I could almost eat them!
This flower enjoys the last rays of sunlight before the night begins...
I love the magnificent red colour of the flower basking in the evening sun, against the dull background...
A bug helps to transport pollen from this flower in its efforts to procreate...
A very thorny avenue!
Simple construction - aesthetically beautiful
Fiery hibiscus hides behind a green leaf...
Wishing everyone a blissful weekend full of life, love and colour!
