On an overcast day in Kuantan, The Zenith Hotel and Menara Zenith stand tall on the skyline. The inevitable rain pounds hard and loud on these tin roofs on houses in Bukit Sekilau. The 'Astro' television signal goes haywire during particularly heavy downpours.
Yes thats one thing that I dont like is everything stops when it rains.
ReplyDeleteno internet, not tv, but the new houses in Johor Bahru are being built with the fibre optic cable so would think no more interruptions when it rains.
The Funny thing is, that in Johor Bahru when it rains the Taxis refuse to run and take cover usually under the arches near Danga City Shopping Malls, so funny because the most time you would want a taxi is when it rains.
You got to Love Malaysia.

Yep, gotta love Malaysia! Even with the little inconveniences.
DeleteHi, Duncan. I just read your comment on my yesterday's post, about the fact that you didn't know I was LDS. I think I once suspected you might be, many many months, maybe a year ago? when I first met you through your beautiful blog. I don't know why I thought this; maybe something about a "mission." Maybe. Not sure. Anyway, how many LDS are there in Kuantan and surrounding areas? I could probably look it up, but hey, you're right there!
ReplyDeleteI just scrolled down through some of your previous posts. I remember that you always posted gorgeous photographs (gorgeous because you and your little family live in such a gorgeous place!), to catch up a bit. So you're "making it" with your Horne Learning Services, teaching English. That is awesome! I've just been reading words of the current church leaders encouraging the young people of the church to do exactly what you did. With faith in ourselves we can indeed get "miracles." Sometimes the miracle takes a lot of hard work, but you did it!
I don't blog as much as I used to because of my disabled daughter's needs, but I'm putting you on my list to stop by once a while. Just seeing your gorgeous header lifts my spirit!! All the best to you, Duncan. And say hello from me to your lovely little family.

Thanks for the comment Ann. In Kuantan there is my family and one other family. We meet for church at our home each Sunday (4 adults, 5 children!)
DeleteAn interesting composition of lines. Saludos.
ReplyDeleteYes, that's what caught my eye!
DeleteThose roofs look like tile at first glance. Singapore looks like an abdolutely fabulous city. We have satellite tv here NE Georgia (usa)which goes out when we have storms. We signed up for fibre-optic internet service, should be ready in a couple months.
ReplyDeleteDuring A-Z, I always looked forward to your little girl holding the sign, she is so cute, like my 2 year old great granddaughter.
Since you are English expert - How do you spell habitues of the planet Venus? Is it Venusian or Venutian? I thought the rule was drop the "s" and add "tian", right?
Anyway, take care of yourselves>
Hey Anthony, I don't know exactly but I would spell it 'venutian' with the 't'.
DeleteAn interesting composition which I like but I much prefer the new header. Singapore botanical Gardens are definitely on that dream list of places to visit one day.
ReplyDeleteYes Linda, one could easily spend a couple of days taking all of the botanic gardens in.
DeleteI love the sound of rain on a tin roof. That garden shot is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love that too Randy. Thanks!
DeleteWe should be so lucky to get some rain where I am. Hope things are well with you.
