Why do I love Malaysia so much?

I have been living in Malaysia for 8 years now and I have enjoyed every moment of it. Truth be told, there have been some worrying and difficult moments, but as I mentioned in a previous post, I am "living the dream" here in Kuantan, Malaysia.

I have a friend from England who lives in Johor Bharu (JB) and he too keeps a blog. I'd like you to meet him today.

His name is John and in a recent posting, he pretty much explained to a tee how we both feel about Malaysia and why we Englishmen indeed love Malaysia so much!

I couldn't have explained it better myself, so please hop over to John's blog right here to find out what I mean.

Malaysia Boleh!

Kizsports @ Empire Mall, Kuala Lumpur

We took Lauren and Leah to Kizsports, a fun playground for children which is located in Empire Mall, Kuala Lumpur (KL).

We paid just RM27 for our 2 children, including 2 pairs of socks for them. My wife and I, and my sister-in-law Urai, went in for free to accompany the children. Of course, there is no time limit to our stay there!

It was such a fun time! I think Urai and I had even more fun than the children! It was quite a workout in the end with endless running, sliding, climbing and jumping.

A view of the Kizsports play house:

Even Leah is looking directly at the camera!

Aunty Urai looks like a real doll in this picture!

Watch Lauren and Urai come yelling down the slide!

Lauren gets really upset because she didn't win!!!

So we tried again and this time Lauren won!!

Does the Journey Seem Long?

Does the journey seem long,
The path rugged and steep?

Are there briars and thorns on the way?

Do sharp stones cut your feet
As you struggle to rise

To the heights thru the heat of the day?

Is your heart faint and sad,
Your soul weary within,

As you toil 'neath your burden of care?
Does the load heavy seem
You are forced now to lift?

Is there no one your burden to share?

Let your heart be not faint
Now the journey's begun;

There is One who still beckons to you.

So look upward in joy

And take hold of his hand;
He will lead you to heights that are new-

A land holy and pure,
Where all trouble doth end,

And your life shall be free from all sin,
Where no tears shall be shed,
For no sorrows remain.

Take his hand and with him enter in.

Standing tall...

On an overcast day in Kuantan, The Zenith Hotel and Menara Zenith stand tall on the skyline. The inevitable rain pounds hard and loud on these tin roofs on houses in Bukit Sekilau. The 'Astro' television signal goes haywire during particularly heavy downpours.

Pantai Sepat (Sepat Beach), Kuantan

Pantai Sepat is a straight stretch of sand and sea in Kuantan. It's a lovely beach located by the roadside at the Tanjung Lumpur side of Kuantan. Travelling over the bridge to Tanjung Lumpur, drive straight past the Yayasan Pahang building. The next left turn at a junction is the road to take you past Sungai Soi. A few more kilometres and the beach will materialise on your left-hand side.

Pantai Sepat is literally by the roadside. It sits in jungle-type land with many old wooden houses in the vicinity and herds of cows grazing on the grass or taking a lie down under a shady tree. Young boys on bicycles cycled on the wrong side of the road in front of our car.

I love these twisted trees at Pantai Sepat

Lauren poses beautifully by the trees!

I enjoyed our short visit to Pantai Sepat, but it was just too hot!

A stray knarled branch lies on the beach

Little purple flowers run from the grass onto the beach

High Tide at Teluk Chempedak beach

It's rather windy during the day and the sea gets a little boisterous at Teluk Chempedak, resulting in some choppy waves. The breeze is a welcome relief at the beach from the pounding heat.

Have a dazzling day, wherever you are!
