A photograph a day from Kuantan: #5 Kuantan Arts Museum

The guillotine was a swift killer, flanked by an intimidating executioner. This and other scenes were on show at the Kuantan Arts Museum when we visited in April 2011. In conjunction with the torture exhibition there were dark executioner models in a few rooms which made me a little jumpy!

The red hue is exactly how the room was presented.

  5. That room sure looks creepy!! Very atmospheric. Reminds me a bit of The Chamber of Horrors in Madame Tussauds in London. Very grisly!

  6. Scary it definitely was. I found myself looking over my shoulder and walking around the perimeter of some rooms! Not my most favourite of places I've ever been, but interesting nevertheless!

  7. From an artistic standpoint, I LOVE the red! This takes me back to the days I taught the French Revolution. Imagine if I showed the class this picture as my hook for the unit? Haha! Great picture as always, Duncan!

  9. I saw your comment on my recent post. I'm guessing you might have found me through Grandpa who lives in Malaysia? Anyway, I'm glad you found me.

This is an incredible layout. Everything about it is atmospheric, as Thisisme commented above about the room. Grisly indeed! And the red adds to the horror.

I just read through your pages. So you have a lovely wife, one child, and another on the way. I wish you all the very best. And I'm now an avid follower.

FGF, you have until 31st May 2011, when the exhibition closes!

Ann, thanks for the numerous comments you've scattered over my blog. I'm not sure about Grandpa who lives in Malaysia, however, I found you through one of your comments on somebody else's blog. Thanks for following :)
