After the war he decided living in a small Scottish village wasn't for him and he uprooted his very young family and emigrated to Rhodesia, now Harare (central Africa). I thank the heavens so much that he did, growing up in Africa was the best experience. The expression 'travel broadens the mind' is so true don't you think?
