Alor Akar Seafood Restaurant, Kuantan

Last night we ate out at Alor Akar Seafood Restaurant. It is located just off Jalan Beserah, in Kuantan.

Fidelia's former university classmate was here in Kuantan and invited us out for this meal. It was our first time at Alor Akar Seafood Restaurant, so we had no expectations over the food.

We ordered butter prawns, lemon chicken, sweet and sour fish, and mixed vegetables . . .

Lauren, and Leah pictured here, were a handful!

The food at Alor Akar Seafood Restaurant was delicious!

By the time the sun went down, Alor Akar Seafood Restaurant was packed full with customers. It's a very popular place to eat in Kuantan, with great food at reasonable prices.

What do you like about my blog? - A Poll

Hi everyone, and welcome to Kuantan again!

It's still so hot here in this part of Malaysia. We're having small showers here and there, but no real signs of the imminent annual monsoon rains just yet.

We are also anxiously awaiting the operation of the brand new rapidkuantan public bus service, starting on Saturday 1st December, 2012. It's long overdue and a positive forward step for Kuantan!

Today I would like to invite each and every one of you who are on a PC or laptop to participate by voting in the poll just below this post. I want to know what you like about this blog.

It just takes a click of your time!

First night photos with Canon EOS 650D

I'm really enjoying getting to know my Canon EOS 650D.

The other night I went out to take my first night shots with my new camera. I also decided to capture images using an 8-second shutter speed.

Jalan Dato Lim Hoe Lek, Kuantan

With the 8-second shutter speed I was able to capture the lights of moving cars as red and white streaks across the image. I will definitely find a busier road next time!

The following image was taken without the manual adjustment of shutter speed . . .

In-built photo editing on the Canon EOS 650D allows you to select an area to be focused on, while blurring out the rest

Flying in the Kuantan skies

We often watch the aeroplanes flying by through the Kuantan skies. I figured they are coming from a north-west direction meaning they could be en route to KL or Singapore, probably from the Philippines, Hong Kong or China.

Saturday Blog Tour featuring Julia Roberts, an old nature photo and the legend Roger Federer!

Can anyone believe it's the weekend again?! Today I'll tell you a little about what we've been doing this week and show you around  my blogs.

First up, we have been watching the movie "Mirror Mirror" starring Julia Roberts and Lily Collins, with our students in our English classes this week. It's a great movie. We prepared 20 questions to test our students listening and comprehension skills. To read about the importance of listening in English, click the link to go to my latest post.

Next is an old photo but still one of my favourite nature pictures. Check it out at my nature blog. I've also adjusted this blog to make it easier to browse all of my photos on the same page. Go and have a look around at the beauty in Kuantan right here.

The final installment for today is Roger Federer. I miss watching him play now that the tennis season is over. It's been a good year for him. At my Roger Federer Shrine I'm discussing more about this tennis legend and what makes him so great. You could also submit an answer on 3 ongoing polls on the page!

I hope you'll find a little something here to light up your Saturday. Thank you for taking the tour, and I look forward to sharing more photos from my Canon EOS 650D with you next week!

Lauren and Leah are growing so fast!

We always say it about our children, but it appears to be true. Lauren and Leah are growing so fast! And they are getting used to the new, much bigger Canon EOS 650D DSLR camera.

Here are a few of the latest pictures of my two lovely children:

My good wife took this picture of Lauren and Leah

Lauren looks just like Fidelia, and Leah looks like me!

Leah spotted this chair at a shop in East Coast Mall and had to sit in it for a while!

And because Leah did, Lauren had to sit in the chair too!

This is Leah's cute way of saying "peace"

Bidding you a warm Welcome!

While out using my new Canon EOS 650D, I came across this very warm welcome sign outside a lovely corner house:

A welcome sign in Bukit Sekilau, Kuantan

Upgraded with a Canon EOS 650D

We recently purchased a Canon EOS 650D DSLR camera to replace our Sony Cybershot point-and-shoot model.

The Canon EOS 650D

We are very excited and have been enjoying experimenting with it and trying to learn all about these pro cameras.

The best feature of the Canon EOS 650D is this beautiful flexible touchscreen, the first of its kind on a DSLR camera

We took a few shots of the children (they are such apt and willing models), and I went for a walk this morning to test out the Canon EOS 650D with some nature landscapes.

Monkeying around at Teluk Chempedak beach

On our last walk around Teluk Chempedak (TC) beach in Kuantan, we encountered the monkeys hogging the footbridge.

The monkeys at TC are a regular feature. Some love them, some are terrified of them. I stand somewhere in between!

Their favourite time to come out and play is lunchtime, so be careful not to carry food in your hands, or the monkeys will have it! have a look at these photos I dared to snap...
